ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Mia Steyn:
Mia is a Black belt Nia teacher, actively teaching Nia classes in a variety of venues in the Western Cape. She is passionate about somatic education, helping people gain insight and transform their lives, through the intelligence of the body. With her knowledge of different movement modalities ranging from Moshe Feldenkrais to Martial Arts and various dance arts, she is able to connect people to their body’s inherent wisdom.

Mia is also a certified 5 stages teacher, an integrative movement practice based on the five developmental movement stages humans experience from the embryo to walking, that supports the body holistically to sustain mobility, flexibility, strength, agility and stability.

Mia has also been running her own events company for the past 15 years, where she delivers a wide variety of services to both institutions and private companies. Her hands-on approach, and attention to detail, has always been one of her strongest traits, leaving people with a sense of being taken cared of. She also believes in empowering people with real tools on and off the dancefloor to connect them with their own personal power and deep knowing.

” Through movement we find health”- Carlos Rosas

Fran Siebrits:
Fran has trained in different body and mind techniques to better understand our human ways. She has a strong connection to nature, where she “tops up her energy tank” – when she is not formerly practicing, teaching movement, facilitating transformation, or working on creative projects she can be found frolicking somewhere int the mountains.

She is the founder of Tuning In – offering “body and mind practices for a healthy lifestyle”. Her own learning architecture has lead her to develope Self Sustainability programmes and trainings. Amoung her qualifications and trainings are yoga teacher and trainer, pilates instructor & mentor, Budokon instructor (mixed marital arts and yoga movement), MYYO Technique therapist, mindfulness & meditation facilitator, Nia Dancer (White Belt), trail runner – mover & mentor.

SOMA (Space of Moving Art) is Fran’s way of being in this … constantly tuning in to allow for creative flow of life. Simply put, she loves to move. And she finds purpose and fulfillment assisting others in finding movement that works for their unique bodymind to bring health and healing. Fran believes each person is unique in their journeying and process, and what applies to one may not be relevant to another. She tries to keep things simple and light, recognising life as a gift and being grateful for what has been presented. Through movement we find healing.
