The lesser know west coast of South Africa has some secret spots.
My all time favourite is Tietiesbaai, just outside Paternoster. But if it’s the waves you need, check out these pictures from a surfing trip to Elandsbaai. And follow them down to a hike in Cape Point
The west coast of South Africa receives some good swell and the surfing is some of the finest in the country. Elandsbaai is one of these spots with the correct swell.

Take your camera, warm clothing for the evenings and a good bottle of red!
And from the waves of the west coast to the breakers closer to Cape Town. The Cape of Good Hope is a great place to spend the day, hiking, cycling, surfing, or just sight seeing and enjoying the serenity.
Some of the bird species that occur in South Africa are the rare African black oyster catcher (indigenous), above, and the pesty Egyptian goose (alien), below.
Lichen form creative designs on the sandstone rocks in Cape Point National Park, Cape Town. The park forms the point of the peninsula in the Table Mountain rangeand is managed by the most prominent conservation body, South Africa National Parks (SANParks).
Indigenous fynbos vegetation occurs in the Western Cape and can be seen all over the mountains in Cape Town. There are many rare and endemic species.
